RESPONSIBILITES

Leading a small team of engineers/laboratory technicians and maintaining the laboratory environment and instruments

Planning, executing, and reporting client-based metabolism experiments in the role as study director or responsible scientist

Organizing and coordinating work and work packages within the laboratory to ensure optimal employment of resources as well as smooth and timely interaction with clients and other departments

Ensuring adequate training of staff to further develop capabilities and strengths and ameliorate where gaps are identified

Keeping abreast with current advances in MS including automation and applying new methodologies for increasing sensitivity, throughput, and for accelerating research to improve the quality of scientific data in drug development

Evaluation and implementation of new technologies, techniques, and skills in accordance with the department strategy and following literature in drug metabolism, metabolite identification, UPLC-HR-MS, and radio detection

Maintaining awareness of the latest developments in drug metabolism and its relation to drug safety

Ensuring compliance with German law, GLP, and GCP guidelines as well as with other applicable regulations (e.g., radio protection) pertaining to the R&D process, study conduct, and registration of drugs

Enforcing adherence to safety measures in laboratories (accountable as per delegation)

QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacy, or a related field, with postdoctoral training or previous relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech industry, or CRO (at least 3 years)

Experiences in leading small to mid-size teams

Hands-on experiences in operating and maintaining UPLC and high-resolution mass spectrometric equipment for the purpose of metabolite identification and characterization of small molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides, or other modalities

Hands-on experiences in working with radioactivity

In-depth experience and knowledge of drug metabolism as well as in the interpretation of mass spectral data for metabolite structure elucidation

Excellent communication skills, verbal and non-verbal

Experiences to work in a highly regulated (GLP) environment

Profound organizational and problem-solving skills, high personal initiative

Fluent in English and German
