RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Driving the life science data strategy across departments and countries from target to clinical candidate from single data points to multidisciplinary datasets
  • Developing a diverse team of Computational Chemists and Data Scientists
  • Driving Computer-Aided Drug Discovery (CADD), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Research Informatics (RI) across the company
  • Overseeing the Research Informatics infrastructure and collaborating with Data Science professionals and engineers in the group to devise and implement its strategy and framework
  • Develop and nurture the vision with respect to computational tools, generative chemistry and approaches to be employed in the group to support generative drug discovery
  • Work as key player in our Science CRO with diverse clients from Biotech, big and mid-sized Pharma, Venture Capital, and other Life-Science enterprises
  • Be part of interdisciplinary research teams and closely interact with colleagues from medicinal chemistry, structural biology, screening, pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics
  • Advance drug discovery projects for clients by leveraging state-of-the-art virtual screening strategies encompassing computational chemistry, AI and ML techniques
  • Manage internal and external projects and stakeholders, providing input into project proposals and reports as necessary
  • Strengthen external visibility and scientific excellence through publishing and engaging with the scientific community

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • PhD in the life sciences, computer science, or related disciplines
  • 10+ years of experience driving projects in the digital life-science arena (Computational Chemistry, Data Sciences)
  • Experience leading a molecular modelling or research informatics group in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical or a related life-science industry
  • Good understanding of chemistry, biology, pharmacology and DMPK as relevant for the drug design process
  • Profound experience in a broad spectrum of computational chemistry techniques applied in drug discovery, covering structure- and ligand-based as well as ML approaches
  • Very good language skills in written and spoken English
  • Independent working attitude with excellent skills in teamwork, reliability, and flexibility
  • Track record of publications and presentations at scientific meetings, demonstrating the application of computational molecular design to drug discovery
  • Excellent presentation skills along with the ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment with strong focus and ambitition
